Privileged rights or privileges are authorizations allowing the person to whom they are granted to perform additional actions, which are not permitted to other persons having (in contrast) rights “regular” or standard.

Example: in a file-sharing application, a group of people called “administrators” can both create files and classification folders where the majority of other people, called “users”, can only create files in existing folders. The administrators here have privileged rights.
